Our club is divided in to
ability and age groups for training and
competition. The coaching staff determines the training group that
best suits the swimmer's need and ability.
Hammerheads
This group places a heavy emphasis
on stroke technique, turn, starts, as well as fun and serves as an introduction
to competitive swimming. The basic skills required for entering this group is a
length of backstroke, freestyle with bi-lateral breathing. Hammerheads are
encouraged to make 3 practices a week.
Tiger Sharks
Emphasis on this group is on continuing to
learn and practice proper technique in all competitive strokes, starts, and
turns. Swimmers are introduced to interval training, and begin to compete on a
regular basis. The Tigershark group practices 4 days per week for 1 ¼ hours
each practice.
Mako I
Swimmers in this group range in age from 9
through 12 years old. There is a continued emphasis on swimming with proper
technique as more rigorous training is introduced. Swimmers are introduced to
dry land training, as well as goal setting. Regular attendance at both meets
and practice is encouraged. The Mako I group practices 5 days per week for 1 ½
hours each practice.
Mako II
Swimmers in this group range in age from 11
to 13 years old. More advanced training is introduced. Swimmers are expected
to be at practice regularly and exhibit a commitment to training at an elite age
group level. More advanced dry land training is introduced. The Mako II group
practices 6 days per week for 2 hours each practice.
Varsity
This group is for ages 13 & over who wish
to be involved on a swim team but may not have the time or desire to make a full
commitment to year-round swimming. This group is excellent for those wishing to
compete in high school swimming only. Practices are 1 ½ hours, 4 days a week.
Senior I
Offered to high school aged swimmers who
show a strong commitment to the sport of swimming. Swimmers are expected to
attend as many practices as possible. This group is designed for swimmers who
wish to pursue a very high level of year-round swimming. Practices are 2 hours,
Monday-Saturday. Senior I swimmers have the choice to attend practices in the
morning with the Senior II groups.
Senior II
Swimmers in this group are committed to
training at the State, Regional, and National level. Swimmers must show the
ability to train and race at the highest levels possible, be fully committed to
the sport of swimming and be able to commit 100% to the full practice & meet
schedule for the entire year. Swimmers must show a high level of attendance and
commitment in the Senior I group before progressing to this group. Practices
are 2 ½ hours Monday-Saturday with additional practices in the morning.
Family Discounts - $10.00 for
2nd child and $20.00 for 3rd child
